Feeding the Gut-On to shrimp reduces the pathogen load, weakens the pathogen by starvation, improves innate-immunity, binds microbial entero-toxins in the gut, and thereby lowers infection rate and mortality caused by various pathogens.

The prime target of Gut-On is the bacterial cell membrane and the various essential processes that occur within and at the membrane. Gut-On can make the bacterial cell membrane porous or even solubilise the membrane in case of high concentration. Gut-On can impair the energy production of the cells caused by interference of the electron transport chain and disruption of the oxidative phosphorylation. Other processes that may contribute to inhibition of bacterial growth or death can be caused by cell lysis, inhibition of enzyme activity or impaired nutrient uptake.

A synergistic effect is induced by the unique formulation of Gut-On with Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA), Phytogenic Bioactive Derivatives (PBD), diformates, toxin adsorbents and micro-ingredients along with a potentiating agent.
